During the 2019 Greenbuild Conference in Chicago, USGBC President and CEO Mahesh Ramanujam announced that we had successfully built the world’s very first LEED Zero Energy residential home certified by the USGBC—an honor that represents the tremendous effort and commitment of our team to making an impact on our surrounding environment.

Pearl Homes and Gobuty first broke into the sustainability sector with the successful completion of the criticallyacclaimed Mirabella, a 55+ active adult community of 160 LEED-Platinum certified, eco-friendly attached villas located in the City of Bradenton. Recently closed-out, construction of Mirabella began in 2015 with a focus on implementing third-party verifications and utilizing the highest quality of materials and energy-efficient construction. This paved the way for Gobuty to push the sustainability barriers even further with the net-zero capable Pearl Home. Mirabella was one of the first residential developments to achieve the USGBC’s highest recognition on a production scale. Over the four year development period, Mirabella received more than 20 national and local awards for its sustainable design, including the USGBC’s Power Builder of the Year award for 2016, 2017 and 2018, 2018 LEED Outstanding Developer, and the prestigious Aurora awards for back to back years in 2016 and 2017. Using LEED-design, the homes incorporated solar power and innovative technology to reduce energy use and utility bills by more than 40 percent.
